The Big K's birthday treat continues

The big K and I woke up the next day to a wet and foggy Tagaytay morning. We could barely see anything outside. The whole place was blanketed in thick, cold fog. No mistake here, it was not smog (as what we are used to in Manila on a bad day!) but definitely a fog.

It was a perfect start to the day sitting at Verbena's balcony waiting for our breakfast, sipping a nice cup of strong "barako" coffee while watching the heavy mist slowly clear up and reveal the lake and its volcano.

Our stay at the Discovery Country Suites included a complimentary breakfast menu of our choice plus a buffet of different breads, jams, fruits and juices.

I had been hankering for pancakes and waffles in the past few days. So I decided to order Verbena's homemade Belgian Waffles, two waffles topped with a peach fruit, whipped cream, toasted almonds and raspberry sauce. Now I prefer my waffles crispy on the outside and moist and fluffy on the inside unfortunately these were not. Hmmmm....It sure was nice to look at though.

The big K had better luck with his Huevos Rancheros that was cooked in spiced bell pepper, chorizo and tomato salsa and served with garlic roasted potatoes. He said it was one of the best he's had. Too good I didn't have time to take a picture of it before he started to dig in.

Marcia Adams' Tuscany restaurant

After checking out from the Discovery Country Suites, the big K and I thought it would be a good idea to have lunch first before heading back home. We wanted to try this new (well, new to us anyway) restaurant called the Marcia Adams' Tuscany restaurant also in Tagaytay.

Parking at the restaurant's nondescript driveway and entering the restaurant's property, we were pleasantly surprised to be welcomed by thick foliage. It was like getting lost in a sea of green!

The restaurant's parking lot. Little did we know of the wonderful surprise that was hidden within!
It was refreshing to walk along this sea of untamed greenery.
Entrance to the restaurant's main dining area.
Main dining area of the lovely Tuscan-inspired restaurant.
Table for two please! The big K and I opted to dine at the more intimate smaller dining area of the restaurant.

The restaurant offers 3-course meals (appetizer, main entree and dessert)  at an affordable average price of Php750.00 per person.

Amalfi Prawns for my appetizer. Crispy prawns (more like shrimps though) marinated in salt, pepper, olive oil and parsley. Coated in bread crumbs and pan-fried. Simple yet tasty.
The big K opted for the soup of the day that was made from meat, potatoes and cabbage.
A side order of their Aegean salad which came with grilled pears, mixed greens, Italian ricotta cheese, cottage cheese and roasted pistachios. Lightly dressed with an herby, tangy dressing.

For our drinks we wanted the Bundaberg Ginger Beer, unfortunately they weren't available. We happily settled for their Lemon-Lime-Bitters instead.

Corsican Beef Stew for the big K (yummy!) while I had their grilled aromatic pork. I decided not to post the picture of my main entree since it did not come out nicely (too excited to eat, I guess) but I assure you it was good-tasting.
You know that the owners have a good sense of humor when they named this dessert, the Banana Split.
The big K chose the more simple fried Banana with chocolate dip.
What a lovely lunch! The food was simple yet tasty. Service was also prompt. We will definitely come back.
